Match Report

Match Report – Sussex Martlets vs Worth School – 24/04/2022

The Sussex Martlets won the toss and elected to bat.

The Martlets got off to a solid start with a glorious 35 from Felix Horsham-holt and an EXTREMELY gritty 13 off 48 from Ben Jackson. The momentum continued with decent starts from Luke Forster and Nick Beechey. However, some poor batting from the middle and lower order (including the skipper) meant Worth were given 150 to chase and a lot of overs to do it.
The Martlets bowled tidily, but struggled to take wickets – Worth ground their way to the 152 (in 48 overs 😫). The pick of the bowlers was probably myself which tells you all you need to know. Special mention to Sam Hardwick from the school who built his innings well, making 67* to win Worth the game.
I believe this is the first time we have lost this fixture, so congratulations to the school and comiserations to the Martlets!
