Sussex Martlets 251, Nick Seager 159
Stragglers of Asia 174
Martlets won by 77 runs. With rain threatening once again for this fixture we were lucky indeed to get a full day’s play with only one short interruption just before tea. Willie Bicket, skippering the Martlets, elected to bat on a damp, but firm and sporting track at Fletching. The openers, Toby Pierce and Nick Seager, got off to a healthy start with Toby eventually being caught and bowled for 31 dashing runs but the star of the show was Nick Seager who scored a near faultless 159 including 8 monumental 6’s. The rest of the Martlets batting struggled to get into double figures but the score of 251 proved to be a challenging total. For the Stragglers, Rob Pollock Hill scored a steady 80 and although he was well supported by the top order they were bowled out for 174 with most of the Martlets bowlers contributing to the wicket taking. Once again the Griffin Inn provided an excellent lunch and post match analysis venue!
The Martlets side was Willie Bicket (captain), Josh Burrows, Robin Frean, Chris Hammond, Peter Hartland, Nick Hiley, Patrick Jackson, Paul Lack, Toby Pierce, Stuart Ritchie and Nick Seager (Wkt)
