Sussex Martlets 181 – 8 (40 overs)

On an extremely hot and humid day the Martlets lost the toss and were asked to field first. The first ball of the match produced an excellent catch at point but unfortunately it was a no ball! After that the young J Ludlow got his head down and amassed an excellent hundred (117). Although the Martlets produced a good fielding performance they spent a lot of time chasing the ball. When Charlie Dowdall was brought on to bowl his off spin darts the college were 140 for 1 but Charlie’s accuracy and Jenks’ skill behind the stumps brought two wickets in his first over. Dowdall’s 4 for 40 of his 8 overs helped stem the flow of runs but the college still reached 270 for 5. The Martlets got of to a solid start but with an ever increasing required run rate wickets fell. Highlights were Tom Randle 59* and simon leefe 30. The Martlets finished their 40 overs on 181 for 8.
