Match Report
| The team of ten Martlets who made the trip to the south coast were rewarded with sunny and benign conditions for our match against the Hampshire Hogs at Hayling.
This wonderful links is ranked by many publications in the Top50 courses in the country and we received a very warm welcome with a glass of Sandeman fortified wine on the first, a celebration of Hayling’s close history with the family, dating back to the 1880’s. The match was a tight affair, with three of the five 4BBB matches going right down to the wire on 18, a fine closing hole played out under the gaze of members and visitors enjoying their post round drinks on the balcony of the wonderful Art Deco clubhouse. The final match was won with a solid par 4 on 18 to go 1 up thus steering the good ship Martlets safely into port and closing out the match 3-2 in favour of the intrepid Sussex Martlets against strong opponents in the Hampshire Hogs – a fine away victory..!
