Free Foresters 307-5 from 58 overs
After enduring the dreadful weather this year it was a delight to play at Arundel under cloudless blue skys on a beautiful September day, having won the toss and elected to field the Martlets were soon on the back foot after a useful opening partnership of 78 in quick time, a couple of quick wickets seemed to put the brakes on but only for a short while and soon the Foresters were back in full swing. A super lunch was then followed by more Martlet bowlers being put to the sword particularly Liam Casey who completed his century in style with another boundary. Curiously the Foresters decided to bat on past 300 and probably put the game out of reach!
In reply the Martlet openers got of to a steady start and saw us of to a steady if not spectacular start. Having to put the accelerator after tea a couple of wicket were lost and with 200 needed of the last 17 overs and 6 men on the boundary the game unfortunately came to a timid end, in saying that a very enjoyable game and some good performances on both sides.
