The Martlets arrived at the Saffrons with a good young side for this 40 over match against Eastbourne. Having lost the toss the team gave little away in the first 10 overs, however Luke Tomsett (a Martlet) looked comfortable at one end.
Burgess bowled well at first change, taking wickets before drinks, stunting Eastbourne’s progress. James Silk, a debut captain for the Martlets, deployed the bowlers effectively for the remainder of the innings, to reduce Eastbourne to an under par score of 154.
Toby Pullan and Joe Ludlow made relatively light work of the chase, both making half centuries as the Martlets won by 6 wickets. Thanks goes to Luke Tomsett, for helping the Martlets to fill their compliment of players.
Eastbourne remains an enjoyable fixture for Martlets players of a range of abilities.
