Match Report
| On a bright Sunday morning the Martlets travelled to Cooden Beach for the annual fixture. The Martlets first paring of Mike Stewart (Match Manager) and Simon Flind was played against the lone Cooden Beach member Tony Hunt. Simon and Mike enjoyed a see-saw battle with Tony Hunt. Four down at the turn Simon and Mike won the next four holes and halved the remaining five, the 18th hole was particularly dramatic as Mike holed a monster putt from just off the green for a half.
Patrick Hole and Steve Pook had a very tight game; they amassed seven birdies between them and still ended up All Square.
A new pairing of Martin Phillimore and Nigel Cook won their match 2&1.
The penultimate pairing of James Steadman and Charlie Hartridge had a very competitive game against Stinson and Clarke but lost 3&1.
The final match of Mark Stevenson and Ivan Newall finished all square which meant the match was a half.
Without exception, everyone enjoyed themselves and some messages of appreciation have been received. Most who played wish to be included in next year’s fixture |
