Sussex Martlets 222
Christ’s Hospital 214
What a superb game of cricket. Having lost our opener to the first ball of the day we were somewhat saved by a superb partnership of 103 by George Hobden and Ben Smith. We then lost regular wickets and stuttered to a very par score of 222. CH bowled superbly throughout. In reply the Martlets took regular wickets but the school kept putting decent partnerships together and got to 202-5 with 5 overs to bowl needing just 21 to win. A spell of 3-4 by Patrick Goodwin eventually bowled the school out for 214 with 2 balls of the match remaining. Throughout the day, the school had played some excellent cricket and never stopped going for the runs even to the last ball. An excellent day’s cricket.
