Hove County Cricket Ground was the venue for this fixture and unsurprisingly upon winning the toss the Brunswick captain elected to bat on a flat looking Hove wicket. In their allotted 40 overs Brunswick compiled a competitive 219 for 8 largely thanks to an elegant century from South African number 3 Birkenstook. The 5 bowlers used by the Martlets all displayed good control and determination considering the unresponsive pitch and extremely short leg side boundary. The pick of the bowlers was left arm spinner Zane Hartley who bowled superbly for figures of 3 for 33 off his 8 overs. The Martlets reply started poorly but an excellent partnership between Marcus Campopiano and Jonny Phelps steadied the ship. Both eventually fell for 49 and 53 respectively leaving Mitch Backhouse and Darryl Rebbetts to see the team to victory with an over to spare. Backhouse finished with a well made 67 not out.
