Sussex Martlets

Junior Martlets

A brief history of Junior Sussex Martlets

The Club has a thriving Junior Martlets section catering for all age ranges above 13, and we positively encourage youth cricket.

Junior Martlets playing at Arundel Cricket Ground

Founded in 1929, the Junior Sussex Martlets were a natural progression from the senior Club and give 'county' exposure to good young cricketers living in Sussex.

Junior Martlet players often climb to much greater heights on the cricketing ladder; graduating from club to county and even England honours! Some may have heard of such famous names as: the Nawab Of Pataudi (Sussex and India), John Snow (England), John Barclay, Ed Giddins (England), Tony Pigott (England), Robin Martin-Jenkins, James Kirtley (England), Dominic Clapp, Will Green (England Rugby XV), Mark Lock (Leeds Rugby Club) and the list goes on! They all enjoyed the team-spirit and camarederie engendered by this famous club.

We always welcome new members. If you would like to join the Junior Martlets, please send your details to Chris Snell and he will contact you to discuss your interest further.

We are a safety conscious Club and follow the ECB cricket club guidelines on playing safety and child protection. For further information contact Chris Snell.
