Sussex Martlets

Want to join?

Cricketers of all ages and abilities with links to Sussex are welcome to join the Martlets.

The Club has a strong playing and non-playing membership. The standard varies dependent upon the fixture - we select our strongest players for competitive matches against the likes of the MCC - though we provide a range of fixtures at different levels giving all with a passion for this great game and its social environment challenging and enjoyable cricket.

If you wish to become a member of the Sussex Martlets, you are warmly invited to send us your contact and playing details. The cost of membership is only £30 per year.

  1. A link with Sussex (by birth, residence or schooling, for example)
  2. At least a reasonable standard as a club cricketer
  3. A willingness to accept the objects of the Club and to play cricket in the spirit intended and advocated by the Club.
  4. A commitment to support the Club, as a playing member by playing in at least two matches per year and by all members attending, where possible, social and other events organised for the benefit and enjoyment of members.

As a member you are entitled to:

The process for selection as a member follows some simple steps:

  1. Your application email is received by the Club and you will be sent an application proforma.
  2. On receipt of your completed application form your name is entered into the Candidates’ Register. Match Managers are informed of your candidature. You are also informed that you have been placed on the list, and you will be sent a Club Handbook and other Club details.
  3. You will be asked to apply for and play in at least three matches in any season. Match Managers are asked to make sure that candidates are given every opportunity to perform during a match. A “no-play” match does not contribute towards a membership application.
  4. At the end of the season, the Committee considers the applications of all candidates resulting in one of the following decisions which will be notified to each candidate:
    a. An invitation to join the Club
    b. An extension of the period candidature
    c. An application being declined.
