Sussex Martlets 265 - 9

The Sussex Martlets hosted the Forty Club at Lancing College.  The XL Club won the toss and batted first, scoring 292-3 dec on a  good wicket. (W Boon 104; D. Earl 108; Pip Dagger 1 for 45). Pip Dagger (Cuckfield and Sussex U-17 Ladies)  playing her first game for the Martlets, opened the bowling and was the most successful bowler with 1 for 45 off her 8 overs. Set to score 293 at 6 runs per over, the Martlets started well with Colin Oliver-Redgate (20) and Ryan Budd ( 52) putting on 82 for the first wicket in 20 overs; Kyle Abrahams then came in to increase the run-rate with a quick 70 off 57 balls; Stuart Ritchie 19 off 11 balls; Andrew Cantrell 40 off 38 balls, Rob Walker 24 off 14 balls, and the Martlets were nearly there on 260 for 7 needing 33 runs off the last 4 overs.  A couple of wickets fell quickly, and they lost momentum, with Tim Peters (19) and Pip Dagger holding out for the honourable draw.
